Kogi State Government on Sunday don confam d retirement of eight permanent secretaries, some directors and d dismissal of 1,774 employees from d state civil service.

D News Agency of Nigeria gather for Lokoja say dem bin don give d members of staff wey d tin affect dia letters since last December.

Na State Head of Service, Mrs. Deborah Ogunmola, and d Chairman of d state Civil Service Commission, Mr. Ado Shaibu na dem sign d letter.

For copy of d retirement letter wey dem address give one of d affected permanent secretaries show say d retirement na “in d interest of d public.”

Some of d affected permanent secretaries kom yan say dem dey reason to carry d matter reach court.

But d Chief Press Secretary to d state Governor, Mrs. Petra Akinti-Onyegbule, kon defend d action, kon say na part of d ongoing reforms for d civil service.

She talk say d retirement affect only permanent secretaries wey don serve for four years and above. She say;

“Dey don pay d retired permanent secretaries d consolidated benefits wey dem suppose get.

“Also d ones wey e affect na civil servants wey don reach d special salary grade level 17,” 

D governor media aide kon add say d directors wey don serve for eight years and above go  also dey affected.

She say d exact number of directors wey e go affect go be based on d outcome of d recent promotion interviews.

D chief press secretary follow confam say dem dismiss 1,667 workers wey get fake certificates from d state civil service.

She say dose ones wey dem dismiss bin dey uncovered during d screening wey state government do for 2016 and 2017.

Akinti-Onyegbule kon also yan say dem dismiss 107 oda workers based on say dem get hand for some kind wuru wuru activities.
