D Army talk say d exercise go “span across three Divisions of d Nigerian Army, 2,6 and 81” and e dey in line with d training of troops for d “conduct of Internal Security Operations.”
For statement by d Director Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman, him talk say Exercise CROCODILE SMILE II dey “based on Constitutional provisions.”
Remember say as at last year, Army bin don launch d operation for Niger Delta region of we country.
D statement read say;
“D Exercise, wey don set to span across 3 Divisions of d Nigerian Army (2, 6 and 81 Divisions), dey in line with d 2017 Training Directives wey hin aim na to train troops for d conduct of Internal Security Operations wey go epp Civil Authorities across d many formations’ areas of responsibilities, based on Constitutional provisions
“If you remember last year, between November and December 2016, we bin do Exercise CROCODILE SMILE I for d Niger Delta States to stop d security challenges wey dem bin dey face den. Dese challenges include illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, kidnapping and militancy amongst others. Exercise CROCODILE SMILE II now na to epp consolidate on d success of Exercise CROCODILE SMILE I.
“Moreover, dis exercise go complement d on-going Exercise EGWU EKE II for d South-Eastern part of d country.
“Let us not be quick to forget the scenario in which these exercises are carried out. EGWU EKE II became expedient due to the mindless assassinations (even in religious places), attack on security personnel, theft of weapons, armed banditry, kidnapping and cultism, among other security challenges. In a similar vein, security challenges in the South West and Niger Delta geo-political regions such as illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, cultism, kidnapping, militancy and other challenges are becoming rampant.

Dem go really make sure say dem put emphasis on raids, cordon and search operations, anti-kidnapping drills, road blocks, check points and other amphibious operations.
